TYLER HASTINGS
Justin Vincent has been a high school theatre educator and director in Texas since 2004, with a passion for helping students discover their voices through performance, storytelling, and collaboration. He teaches Theatre and IB Film 1 & 2, bringing together the creative disciplines of acting, directing, design, technical theatre, and cinematic storytelling.
As a theatre director, Justin has experience producing both plays and musicals, with a particular interest in creating ambitious, student-centered productions that challenge young artists while making theatre accessible and engaging. His work spans everything from classical and contemporary performance to UIL One-Act Play, musical theatre, scenic design, lighting, sound, and stage technology. Among his accomplishments in One-Act Play are 4 trips to the State Contest, numerous Region finalists, and a State Championship in 2024 with Magnolia High School, directing with his mentor Rod Sheffield, for their production of Black Snow.
Justin believes theatre education is about much more than putting on a show. His classroom emphasizes creativity, confidence, communication, problem-solving, and the discipline required to work as an ensemble. Whether students are onstage, backstage, in the booth, or behind a camera, his goal is to help them recognize the value of their individual contributions and develop skills they can carry far beyond the theatre.
With over a decade of experience in theatre education, Tyler Hastings brings passion, creativity, and a wealth of professional insight to the stage. Before joining our team, he served as head director at New Caney High School and held directing roles in Humble ISD and Klein ISD, shaping young performers across the Houston area.
Mr. Hasting’s journey into theatre began with a high school bargain—an audition for the UIL One-Act Play in exchange for arriving late to school. That moment sparked a lifelong love for the arts. He initially attended Angelo State University on a football scholarship but quickly pivoted to pursue theatre full-time, a decision that launched a successful career in both education and performance.
For several years, Mr. Hastings has performed professionally in theatre and film across the country. Offstage, he enjoys life with his wife Sierra, their daughter Parker, and their two dogs, Barney and Beckett.
